What Is Female Infertility
Female Infertility is an inability of a female to conceive after repeated mating. Female Infertility is also defined as an inability to carry full pregnancy. Female who are fertile had a normal ovulation. But, if any of the sign of infertility is present in female, then it can lead to miscarriage and failed pregnancy. Women have finite number of eggs, but as year progresses, the number of eggs diminishes with year. Sometimes it becomes difficult to diagnose female infertility.
Female Infertility Tests and Diagnosis
Female Infertility is difficult to diagnose. There are several methods by which female infertility are diagnosed. Female Infertility Blood tests, Physical examination, Laparoscopy, Thyroid Function Test and Hysterosalpingography are certain tests which are performed to detect female infertility.
Factors for Infertility In Female
(I) Endometriosis - Endometriosis takes place when tissue from the membrane lining the uterus, referred as endometrial grows outside the uterus. This tissue functions like endometrial in accumulating blood in the monthly menses period, but the blood does not shed.
Symptoms - Painful cramping before and during periods. Pain during intercourse, fatigue, nausea constipation and infertility.
(II) Pituitary Tumors - Pituitary tumors are benign and can lead to destruction of the hormone secreting cells in the pituitary glands. It causes cessation of menstrual period in women.
Symptoms - Infertility problems. Low or cessation of menstrual cycle.
(III) Ovulation /Menstruation Problems- Infertility is most commonly caused by problems with ovulation (monthly release of an egg) .Irregular ovulation can lead to 20% of infertility issue in female.
Symptoms- Erratic menstruation cycle, low body weight rapid weight loss and obesity.
(IV) Pelvic Inflammatory disease - This disease is caused due to infection of the upper female genital tract. It includes womb, fallopian tube and ovaries. It results due to sexually transmitted infection (STD). It causes infertility with a risk of 15% -50%.
Symptoms- Inflammation in ovaries, uterus and fallopian tube.
(V) Abnormalities in Uterus - This can result in 20% of infertility issue in female. This can cause abnormalities in the shape and lining of the uterus wall.
Symptoms- Aggravation of menstrual blood and pain in the pelvic region along with enlargement of the uterus.
(VI) Sterilization- Sterilization blocks the fallopian tube and sperm can’t reach the womb. This can lead to Infertility.
Symptoms - Failure to conceive and infection.
(VII) Polycystic Ovary- Polycystic ovary is the most common and prevalent female disorder affecting almost 1 out of every 15 women. It result in the formation of cysts on the ovary and cause immense pain in the place of pelvic area and also irregularities in the ovulation process.
Symptoms - Irregular ovulation and menstrual period. Obesity, Insulin resistance, acne and excessive hair growth.
(VIII) Womb and blocked fallopian tube - Egg is fertilized in the fallopian tube. It is a long tube along which an egg travels the ovary to the womb. When it reaches the womb, it is implanted there. Any injury to the womb or fallopian tube can cause infertility.

Ayurveda has defined female infertility as a condition which occurs due to inappropriate life style and any disturbance in the functions of the body. There are certain foods which can boost fertility.
