Psilomelane is often banded an alternating layers of gray pyrolusite make it as a striking polished stone and is generally found in USA, Germany, Wythe County. It is also found in Arizona, England, Minas Gerais, Cornwall, Schneeburg, Austinville, Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Ouro Preto, Brazil, elsewhere. It is found bands of metallic gray and submetallic black.
