International Yoga Day 2025: Astrological Benefits and Chakras

Every breath we take is one with ancient synergies. And every movement in yoga is a conversation with the cosmos.

As International Yoga Day approaches on June 21st, many will roll out their mats and practice Surya Namaskar under the morning sun. But few realize how deeply this practice is interconnected with the universe.

Each chakra resonates with elements and emotions, and with the planets and stars. When we move through asanas (postures), you’re realigning these energetic circuits.

Astrological Benefits of Doing Yoga

Yoga, when guided by astrological insight, becomes more powerful:

  • It heals the manas (mind) by calming lunar imbalances.
  • It strengthens the agni (digestive fire) by supporting Mars and the solar plexus.
  • It enhances intuition by activating Jupiter’s wisdom through meditation.
  • It allows karmic healing when practiced consistently under key planetary transits.

Chakras as Cosmic Portals

The body’s energy centers (7 chakras) echo the rhythms of the planets above.

  • Muladhara (Root) – Aligned with Saturn, offering grounding and discipline
  • Svadhisthana (Sacral) – Guided by the moon, influencing emotion and creative rhythm
  • Manipura (Solar Plexus) – Governed by Mars, igniting action, courage, and drive
  • Anahata (Heart) – The presence of Venus, opens up connection and love
  • Vishuddha (Throat) – Under Mercury’s guidance, aiding expression and truth
  • Ajna (Third Eye) – Jupiter, helps see beyond the visible, broadening spiritual perception
  • Sahasrara (Crown) – Touched by Ketu, the headless shadow planet representing detachment and higher consciousness

When one or more chakras are blocked, it corresponds with a planetary affliction in your chart. Through targeted yogic practice, breath, sound, posture, we begin to harmonise those inner frequencies with the stars.
