March 2018 Auspicious Days

We are now in the month of February 2018, and most of us are already getting ready for the beautiful lovely festival of Holy. So it is necessary to have a look at the auspicious days coming up in this year according to Hindu calendar. Let us have a quick look at the calendar of March 2018 and the auspicious days of the month.

1st March – Chhoti Holi, Phalguna Purnima, Holika Dahan
Phalgun is the last month of the year according to the Hindu calendar. It is also known as Vasant Ritu. Several festivals are celebrated in this month like Holi that lies on the Phalgun Purnima. The pnset of Phalguni Nakshatra is known to be highly auspicious and brings good luck in the life.

2nd March Friday – Holi
Holi is the brilliant festival of colors and it involves two days celebrations. On this day people play with colors, throw colors to each others with full zeal and enthusiasm. In the South, in place of Holi, Uttir is celebrates on the same day. Dolotsavam is celebrated in Bengal.

9th March – Sheetala Ashtami, Basoda
Sheetal Ashtami is a Hindu festival which is dedicated to Goddess Sheetala. It is well known as “Basoda Puja”, on this day in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, the festival is celebrated as famous fairs.

14th March – Meena Sankranti-
This is a very auspicious festival, the motto of which is charity and donations. The main reason of celebrating this festival is to get the blessings of Sun God for the welfare and prosperity of individuals and families. There is also sankranti occurring every month of the Hindu calendar.

18th March – Chaitra Navratri, GudiPadwa, Ugadi
Chaitra Navratri is celebrated over a period of nine days. This occurs in the Hindu month of ‘Chaitra’ which is also first month of the Hindu calendar. It is also known as ‘Vasanta Navratri’ or ‘Rama Navratri’. This is a very famous festival in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In the state of Maharashtra it is celebrated as ‘GudiPadwa’.

20th March – Gauri Puja, Gangaur
Gangaur is an important festival of Hindus to worship Goddess Parvati. Gangaur is a Hindi word whose formation has its root formed by joining two words ‘Gan’ meaning Lord Shiva and ‘Gaur’ menans Goddess ‘Parvati’. It is known that Goddess Parvati returned to her parent’s home on this day to bestow the blessings of marital bliss to her friends.

25th March – Ram Navami
Ram Navmi is celebrated on the ninth day of the month of Chaitra, it signifies the arrival of divine power on the earth. It is the day when Lord Vishnu was born. On this day, devotees of Lord Rama perform some rituals for purifying their souls.

27th March – Kamada Ekadashi
Vaishnava Kamada Ekadashi is a ritual in which fast is observed for Hare Krishna on 11th day of the Shukla Paksha. This festival destroys all sins of those who observe it. The Vaishnana Sampradaya temple organizes several programs on this day. This scared Ekadashi also opens the door to the heaven.

31st March – Chaitra Purnima, Hanuman Jayanti
Hanuman was a born monkey god that came in this world to serve Lord Rama. He performed daring act like crossing ocean simply by uttering Ram-Ram. He brought sanjeeveni buti from the Hiamlayas for saving the life of Laxman
