Prehnite is a composition of calcium aluminum silicate. Prehnite was first discovered in 1788 in the Karoo dolerites of Cradok, South Africa. It was named as Prehnite after its discoverer, Colonel Hedrick vom Prehn ( 1733 -1785 ), a Dutch mineralogist.
