Ketu Yagya, also known as Ketu Homam or Ketu Puja, is a fire ritual performed in Hinduism to appease and seek the blessings of the planet Ketu. In Vedic astrology, Ketu is known as Navagrahas and is considered a significant influence on a person's life and destiny.

The purpose of performing a Ketu Yagya is to reduce the negative effects of Ketu and enhance its positive energies. It is believed that Ketu governs spirituality and intuition. However, when it is ill-placed or afflicted in an individual's birth chart, it may cause difficulties, obstacles, and other challenges in life.

By conducting a Ketu Yagya, individuals seek to propitiate Ketu and seek its blessings for spiritual growth, wisdom. The ritual involves invoking the deity associated with Ketu and offering various sacred materials, such as ghee, herbs, grains, and incense, into the sacred fire while reciting specific mantras and prayers.

The Ketu Yagya is typically performed by qualified Vedic priests or pundits who have expertise in Vedic rituals. They follow the guidelines and procedures prescribed in ancient scriptures to ensure the efficacy of the ceremony. The ritual is usually conducted in a holy space, such as a temple.

Individuals may choose to perform a Ketu Yagya for various reasons, such as seeking relief from the negative effects of Ketu in their birth chart, improving spiritual growth, enhancing intuition, or seeking protection from malefic influences.

Please note that while rituals like Ketu Yagya hold cultural and religious significance for many people, their effectiveness and impact on an individual's life may vary, and it is always important to approach them with a respectful and open-minded attitude.

Process of Ketu Yagya -

Here is a general outline of the process of Ketu Yagya:

  1. Before performing the Ketu Yagya, it is advisable to consult an experienced Vedic astrologer. They can analyze your birth chart and determine the placement and influence of Ketu. Based on their guidance, you can proceed with the Yagya.
  2. The astrologer will help you select an auspicious date and time for performing the Ketu Yagya. They will consider the planetary positions and alignments to ensure favorable conditions for the ritual.
  3. The necessary items for the Ketu Yagya include a sacred fire pit (agni kunda), ghee (clarified butter), wood, herbs, fruits, flowers, camphor, incense sticks, and various offerings for the deity.
  4. On the day of the Yagya, it is essential to purify yourself by taking a bath and wearing clean clothes. The Yagya area or puja room should also be cleaned.
  5. Begin the Yagya by invoking the presence of deities, including Lord Ganesha, who is traditionally worshiped at the beginning of any auspicious ceremony.
  6. Make a Sankalp, stating the purpose and intention of the Yagya. This is done by reciting your name, gotra, and the purpose of the Yagya.
  7. Recite the relevant mantras dedicated to Lord Ketu.
  8. Offer the prepared items, such as ghee, herbs, fruits, and flowers, into the sacred fire while chanting the mantras. Fire is considered a medium to carry offerings to the deities.
  9. Perform the Homam by making offerings into the sacred fire. The mantras specific to Ketu are chanted during this process.
  10. Conclude the Yagya by performing an aarti, and offering prayers to Lord Ketu. Seek blessings and express gratitude for the completion of the ritual.
  11. After the Yagya, distribute the prasad (blessed offerings) to family members, friends, and attendees. Consuming the prasad is believed to bring spiritual and material benefits.
