The New Born Child Yagya is performed to invoke blessings for the safe, smooth, and successful life of a newborn baby. A Navagraha Yagya (worship of the nine planets) is the main constituent of this ritual, pacifying planetary influences in the baby's chart and seeking health, protection, and a bright future. The exact deities, Grahas, and materials are finalised only after studying the horoscope of the newborn. At AstroKapoor, the yagya is performed by expert Pandits and Aacharyas under the guidance of Astrologer Prashant Kapoor.
This is a Vedic ritual (a newborn baby puja / yagya) performed soon after birth to welcome the child, pacify any malefic planetary influences, and seek divine blessings for the baby's wellbeing. It is customised to each child's kundli and can include Namkaran (naming) and protection rituals. (This is a spiritual blessing performed alongside — never in place of — the baby's regular paediatric care and check-ups.)
Namkaran Sanskar is the Vedic naming ceremony, traditionally performed on the 11th or 12th day after birth (or at a muhurat fixed by the astrologer). The baby's name is often chosen according to the birth nakshatra and pada, which indicate an auspicious starting syllable (letter) for the name. AstroKapoor's Pandits identify the correct nakshatra pada and suggest the auspicious naming letter along with the ceremony.
In Vedic tradition, the birth nakshatra and its pada (quarter) determine an auspicious first syllable for the baby's name. For example, each of the 27 nakshatras has four padas, and each pada is linked to a specific sound/letter. Naming the child accordingly is believed to align the name with the child's planetary energies for a harmonious life.
Vedic tradition prescribes 16 sanskars across a person's life, several of which relate to infancy and childhood:
| # | Sanskar | Stage / Timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Garbhadhana | Conception |
| 2 | Pumsavana | Early pregnancy |

| 6 | Nishkramana | ~4th month (first outing) |
| 7 | Annaprashana | ~6th month (first solid food) |
| 8 | Chudakarana (Mundan) | 1st–3rd year (first haircut) |
| 9 | Karnavedha | Ear piercing |
| 10 | Vidyarambha | Start of learning |
| 11 | Upanayana | Sacred thread |

New Born Child Yagya is a special Vedic ritual performed for the well-being, protection, and positive growth of a newborn baby. It includes Navagraha Yagya as a major component and is customized according to the baby's birth chart to address specific planetary influences.
This Yagya is performed to seek blessings for a newborn child's safe, healthy, and successful life. According to Vedic astrology, it helps in pacifying unfavorable planetary influences and creating positive energies for the child's future growth and development.
The astrologers analyze the newborn's birth details, including date, time, and place of birth, to study planetary positions. Based on the horoscope analysis, the required Grahas, deities, mantras, and Yagya materials are finalized for the ritual.
To perform a personalized New Born Child Yagya, details such as the baby's name, date of birth, exact birth time, place of birth, and horoscope-related information are required. These details help determine the appropriate Yagya procedure and the planetary factors that need to be addressed.
