Natural Sardonyx is a banded Chalcedony gemstone composed of brownish-red to dark-orange Sard alternating with contrasting white or black Onyx layers. With Mohs hardness of 6.5–7 and attractive natural banding, Sardonyx is popular for cameos, intaglios, beads, pendants, rings, cabochons and ornamental carvings.
