Arka Prakasham: Ravana’s Contribution to Ancient Medicine
Ravana is not only credited with the authorship of the Ravana Samhita but also the
Arka Prakasham, a significant ancient text on medicine and treatment.
This work explores the preparation of Arka (medicinal distillates) through an extensive
dialogue between Ravana and his consort Mandodari. The conversation highlights
powerful remedies and showcases the deep connection between astrology and healthcare in ancient India.
Remedies for Wealth and Fame from Ravana Samhita
The Ravana Samhita offers unique remedies aimed at increasing wealth, fame, and social status.
These remedies reflect the holistic spiritual approach of ancient wisdom.
Remedy 1: Sacred Puja for Financial Stability
Individuals suffering from financial loss or low social standing are advised to consult a learned
Brahmin (Pandit) and select an auspicious Mahurat.
A special puja should be performed near a sacred water source such as a river or pond, preferably
in the presence of a Banyan Tree (Vat Vriksha).
Remedy 2: Mantra Sadhana Under the Banyan Tree
After bathing in holy water or using Gangajal, one should sit under the Banyan tree
and chant the following mantra:
ओम ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं नमः ध्वः ध्वः स्वाहा
Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Namah Dhwaha Dhwaha Swaha
This mantra must be chanted 1100 times daily for at least
21 consecutive days. If the continuity is broken, the practice must be restarted.
Remedy 3: Apamarg Seed Paste for Spiritual Detachment
To transcend worldly illusions, Ravana Samhita recommends creating a paste using
Apamarg seeds and goat’s milk.
Applying this paste over the entire body is believed to attract divine blessings and help the
practitioner detach from material delusions.
