Powerful Mantras For Removing Evil Eyes

A mantra is a sacred sound or word believed to create a powerful spiritual and psychological effect on a person’s life. Across Vedic tradition, there are many powerful mantras you can chant for protection — against the evil eye (buri nazar), against enemies, against black magic, and even against ill health and misfortune. This complete guide brings together the most powerful protection mantras, the signs that you may be affected by the evil eye, and exactly which mantra to chant for which problem.

What Is the Evil Eye (Buri Nazar)?

The evil eye — known as buri nazar or simply nazar — is believed to cause injury, illness and misfortune to the person it is aimed at, usually arising from another’s envy, dislike or even unintentional admiration. It is one of the oldest beliefs in Indian and world culture, and countless remedies exist to remove it. The most trusted and lasting of these remedies is the chanting of protective mantras, which cleanse negativity and shield a person’s energy.

Signs and Symptoms of the Evil Eye

How do you know if you or your home has been affected by buri nazar? Traditionally, the following signs are associated with the evil eye:

  • Sudden, unexplained illness, fatigue or persistent lethargy.
  • A run of bad luck, obstacles or setbacks with no clear cause.
  • Disturbed sleep, bad dreams or restlessness.
  • Loss of appetite and low, irritable moods.
  • Unexpected problems in finances, work or relationships.
  • Babies or young children crying continuously without reason.

These are traditional beliefs, and persistent physical or emotional symptoms should always be checked by a doctor as well.

Why Use Protection Mantras Against Enemies and Evil

There are many reasons devotees turn to protection mantras. Just as different remedies suit different problems, different mantras are chanted for different goals — to overcome hard times, to relieve worries and low moods, to guard against negativity, to protect against ill health, and to gain victory over enemies and hidden opponents. Chanted with faith, these mantras restore spiritual alignment and surround you with divine protection.

Evil Eye Removal Mantra (Nazar Utarne ka Mantra)

The best way to protect yourself from the evil eye is to chant a dedicated evil-eye protection mantra. These include the powerful Shaabri mantra, which is believed to remove drishti (the evil gaze) and its effects:

Om Namo Guru Adesh Thujha Nave Bhut Pale Pret Pale Khavis Pale Sab Pale Na Pale Guru Ki Goraknath Ki Beed Machichale Guru Ki Sangat Meri Bhagat Chale Mantra Ishwari Vacha.

Chant this with devotion to cleanse the effects of buri nazar from yourself, a loved one or your home.

Durga Gayatri Mantra for Enemies and Obstacles

This mantra removes suffering and hardship from life. Goddess Durga is the Hindu mother of the universe who loves her children infinitely, and this mantra invokes her powerful blessings and protection.

How to chant it: Sit before a Durga idol at sunrise and recite:

Aum Mahaa-Dhevyai Cha Vidmahe, Durgaayai Cha Dhimahee, Thanno Dhevee Prachodayath.

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra for Difficult Times and Protection

We all face hard times, and staying strong through them is essential. The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra — the great Rudra mantra of Lord Shiva — is chanted for resilience, healing and protection from fear and threats, as explored in our guide to the powerful Shiva mantra.

How to chant it:

  • Chant it during difficult times, ideally on an empty stomach.
  • It can be recited alone or, for even stronger results, in a group sitting in a circle.
  • Recite it in front of a Shiva idol.

Om Tryambakam Yajaamahe, Sugandhim Pushthivardhanam; Urvaarukamiva Bandhanaan, Mrityormuksheeya Maamritaat.

For a complete ritual, many devotees also perform the Mahamrityunjaya Yagya.

Bagalamukhi Mantra for Victory Over Enemies

Goddess Bagalamukhi, depicted in yellow and also known as Pitambara Vidya, is one of Hinduism’s ten great goddesses of wisdom. She is famed for granting protection and victory over enemies, dissolving illusions, misunderstandings and hidden opponents, and helping devotees acquire wealth and success.

Om Hleem Baglamukhi Sarwdushtanam Wacham Mukham Padam Stambhay Jihwa Kilay Buddhi Vinashay Hleem Om Swaha.

Rudrayamal Tantra Mantra Against Black Magic

The Rudrayamal Tantra mantra is one of the most powerful mantras for protection against black magic and hidden enemies. Used for thousands of years, this rare Stambhan mantra from the Rudrayamala Tantra is chanted to neutralise the harmful intentions of those who deliberately wish to cause harm, restoring safety and peace to the devotee.

Kundalini Yoga Mantra for Protection

Over 3,000 years old, this Kundalini Yoga mantra is said to create a shield of protective light around your magnetic field (aura), guarding you from negativity:

Aad Guray Nameh.

Gayatri Mantra for Enemies (Self-Defence Mantra)

If you fear that enemies may harm you, this sacred and completely safe mantra offers divine protection and is famous as a self-defence mantra. It should be chanted by those who are pure of heart:

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha Om Aim Hreem Kleem Tatsavitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiuo Yo Nah Prachodayat.

Hi. I have been following your page for quite sometime now and I must say you are doing a great job. I see that I am unable to post any comments in any of the article . There are too many mantras and shlokas that you have suggested for various reasons but which one suits for me I unable to decide. I would be glad if you can help. My 3 year old son( Mukunda Vallabha Rao) who was born on 21st August 2017 on the day of solar eclipse and Amavase and is born ashalesha Nakshatra. He was in the ICU for a week after his birth and again after a year he was admitted to the hospital for 3 days for breathing trouble just around his 1st year birthday. This year 5 days before his 3rd year birthday he was playing and hurt his forehead and had to be rushed to the hospital for stitches. I want to know the reason for him getting hurt just around his birthday. Is there any remedies that we can do. We did ashalesha puja during his namkarana when he was 4 months. Kindly help me as to what mantra I can regularly chant if it is due to past karma, evil eyes or negative energy. I will be truly truly grateful to you.

A Worried mom.
